CMFD and USCGFD Make Rescue of Injured Pier Worker

The CMFD was alerted along with the U.S. Coast Guard FD to Pier 3 on the USCG base for a report of a worker who fell from the pier and was unconcious in the water. Upon arrival the worker was on a floating platform and witnesses stated he had fallen backwards off the pier and landed on the platform. The worker was semi concious and disoriented upon assessment. 2 FF/EMT's from the CMFD donned their cold water rescue gear and PFD's and descended to the platform  via a ground ladder. The worker was placed in full CID and loaded onto a longboard and into a stokes basket. A  rope system was utilized to get the worker onto the pier. Once the worker was onto the pier, the worker was loaded into 5197 and transported to a Landing Zone established at the former Air Station on the USCG Base. USCGFD personnel set up the LZ and secured the scene. Thanks to Robert Newkirk for the photo of this incident.
